Use Hardware
Install a Windows 10 to your system needs a little more space, and for that, you need to follow the below steps.
- Get another system to create a bootable device.
- Two empty USB flash drives have a space of 16GB in each.
- Get 2 USB ports for the system.
- If your system has a Micro-USB port, you need a USB OTG cable to change the port to a standard USB connector.
- For one USB port, you will require a USB hub having two ports.
What is Bootable Device
A bootable device is like hardware that requires files to start the system. The most common bootable device used is hardware and floppy disk drive, DVD drive, USB jump drive, CD-ROM drive are all bootable devices that we use on our system sometimes.
Clean the Disk before Installing Windows 10
Before upgrading to Windows 10 update setup in the system, you need to check if your system has enough storage or hard drive space. This setup will help you to know how much storage your system has.
Windows 10 always takes about 10GB of your hard drive. If the system’s space is a problem for you, make some space by performing an in-depth cleaning with tools. You need to have some space for updating Windows 10 on your system.

- Click on I want to use External Storage and if the external hard drive fails, press the Fresh icon, and a green tick will appear.
- Select Continue to install Windows 10 update.

- Go to the Download Windows 10 page, and click on Download Tool.
- Click Run that appears at the bottom.
- Choose Yes in the User Account Control box, and you can automatically download the Media Creation Tool.
- After, click on Save and select a place in your local drive to download the tool for later.
Further Steps to use Media Creation Tool
- A new box will open, and you have to Click Accept on application notices and license terms.
- After clicking on the Accept, you will get two options: Upgrade this PC now and Create Installation Media (DVD, ISO, USB flash drive). You have to select Create Installation media.
- You need to choose one, USB flash drive radio button and ISO file, and click Next, and the system will begin downloading Windows 10. This will ensure that you are using the latest version of Windows 10. Otherwise, you can select Use the recommended option for this PC.
- Now, choose either the USB Flash Drive option or ISO file, and click Next. Selecting any of the options leads to downloading Windows 10 on your PC.
- If you select the first option, you need to connect a blank USB drive with your system. Selecting the second option will provide you to choose a location on your hard drive to save.
- Click Finish once you have downloaded Windows 10. If you are using a USB flash drive, then disconnect it from your system and connect it to another system to install Windows 10.
- For the ISO file, you need to burn it on a DVD and install Windows 10 on your system.
Remove Temporary Files
You can also remove temporary files from your system to clean up your space. Windows suggest different types of files like device driver packages; recycle bin files, Delivery Optimization Files, temporary internet files, Windows Update cleanup files, etc.
Go to the Settings> Temporary Files> Delete the selected files.
Later on, installing any update, you can restore the deleted files from the Recycle Bin. Deleting the files will help you install the update, and once you are done, you can also restore the deleted files.
Clean C Drive

To install Windows 10 on your system, you can also shrink the size of Windows by using some commands. Command OS is a command-line tool that helps in compressing and reducing the size of Windows 10.

- Click Start
- Type command prompt and right-click the top result.
- Click Run as administrator option.
- Enter the below command to compress the installation of Windows 10.
- compact.exe /compactOS:always
- Press Enter
- If you change your mood not to compress or reduce the size of Windows 10, then follow the above steps. But, in step 3, type the below command.
- compact.exe /compactOS:never
- Press Enter
Note – It is requested you should make a backup of your current file, as compressing and reducing the size of Windows 10 may be harmful to your files.
